Waste Management Services

FMSA Waste Management & Recycling specialises in on-site waste management for all types and sizes of businesses across Gauteng. The conventional approach to waste management involves waste removal and recycling but FMSA takes the process further to give our clients the benefits of a turnkey solution.

Holistic Approach

We take a holistic approach to managing on-site waste by properly sorting, processing, recycling, removing waste items and reporting.

Clean Site

We pride ourselves on the cleanliness and order of our sites – maintained by permanent on-site FMSA staff.

On-site Staff

At each site, there is a FMSA official who is placed permanently on-site to sort waste and arrange collections and removals.

Reduced Costs

By sorting waste, FMSA gains rebates on recyclables and steel to offset and reduce your waste management costs by up to 40%.

Customised Strategy

Your specific waste removal stream is determined by a waste management strategy customised to your business.

Peace of Mind

Each client has a dedicated account manager who conducts monthly health and safety inspections.

Increased Sustainability

Your business will lower its environmental footprint as all recyclables are properly sorted and sent to recycling facilities.

Accurate Reporting

Each client receives a detailed monthly waste removal and environmental impact report providing accurate data that you can trust.

FMSA’s One Solution For Zero Waste To Landfill

Site Management

  • Our main focus is on-site sorting and disposal protocols.
  • We carry out daily site cleaning, grading and sorting of material, and booking of collections for optimal management of the net actual waste tonnage removed from a site.

Environmental Waste and Recycling Buy-Back Centres

  • Segregating paper, plastic, cardboard, cans and other recyclables from general waste to vastly reduce waste costs and landfill impact.
  • Having paper, plastic, cardboard, cans and other recyclables removed from general waste, can vastly reduce your overall waste costs. Fewer bins are required and therefore fewer collections are done.
  • FMSA is generally able to save our client as much as 40% in waste costs. We provide recycling centres onsite with FMSA site workers and a highly competitive rebate structure on all recyclables.

Steel Segregation (ferrous and non-ferrous metals)

  • We provide and place the required type and size bins on site and segregate metal on site (per grade) to obtain volume, grade and price efficiencies.
  • This includes the destruction of obsolete or damaged parts and eliminating market re-sale of client products.
  • Market related prices are paid.

Green Tax

Recently there has been increased focus on air pollution – specifically carbon emissions. This comes with the recent implementation of the Carbon Tax Bill in South Africa, which came into effect on 01 June 2019.

FMSA welcomes discussions around carbon tax as our organisational vision is to support the promotion of a clean and healthy environment. The waste sector is a significant carbon contributor and therefore it is important that we provide guidance on how to offset this, at a corporate and consumer level.

As a business owner the new Carbon Tax Bill will have a phased influence with a slow tax increase for carbon emitting activities over two phases.

The phased implementation takes into account South Africa’s commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions according to the Paris Agreement. The Paris Agreement is an agreement within the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, dealing with greenhouse gas emissions mitigation, adaptation, and finance, signed in 2016. The first phase will be from 01 June 2019 to 31 December 2022, and the second phase from 2023 to 2030.

The phased introduction of the carbon tax will provide business owners with the opportunity to plan ahead and to adopt new business models and innovative technology that will aid carbon reduction. The next decade will see a rapid move toward a low carbon, green economy – something that South Africa has needed for a while.

As a consumer, you can play your part as well. The best place to start is by calculating your carbon footprint. This will give you a good idea of which parts of your lifestyle you need to be more conscious about. Calculate your carbon footprint by using an online tool, such as this useful carbon calculator powered by Carbon Footprint.
